Fund Raising Events - 2011

Once again, the year got off to a great start with a very generous donation of £700 from the Blue Anchor pub at Fraddon.  The money was raised over the previous year through a series of raffles and Euchre drives.  We would like to thank the landlords at the Blue Anchor, John and Mary Rickard, as well as all their staff and regulars (who include Adam's paternal grandparents, Great Grandfather and assorted other relatives) for all their fund-raising efforts and generosity.

On 11th September 2011, over 40 people took part in a 22 mile sponsored bicycle ride to raise money for Adam's Fund.  The ride, through the picturesque Cornish countryside from Devoran to Portreath and back again, raised over £2000.

We would like to express our deep gratitude to Adam's Godmother Heidi Cox and her friends at the Cornwall BMX Club for organising the event and taking part.  Many thanks also to the members of Cornwall MTB, Audiosport Team BMX and the Elm Farm Cycle Centre who took part, for their tremendous support, invaluable advice and expertise.  Thanks also to all the sponsors and of course to all the riders and those who helped out on the day, particularly to all the children and young people who gave their time and energy to help Adam.

We would also very much like to thank Nikki Davis and her husband, local DJ Kelly Davis, who raised £570.  Kelly in effect coerced Nikki into taking part in a regional BMX event by using his Facebook Page to garner sponsors.  Nikki threw herself whole-heartedly into the task, despite confessing that she found the idea absolutely terrifying!

The money raised by these events has been earmarked for the purchase of a specialist sink for Adam and we are delighted to say that the sum raised by the sponsored cycle ride and Nikki's efforts, together with a generous donation from local builders and property developers K & R Blewett Ltd, has enabled us to place the order.
